1953
The First Springhill Rodeo
A group of ranchers and community leaders organized the inaugural Springhill Rodeo on the fairgrounds south of town. About 200 people attended the first year.
1960s
Building a Tradition
Through the 1960s the rodeo grew from a one-night affair to a three-night event, adding the Rodeo Queen pageant and a parade through downtown Springhill. Full history description coming.
1979
The Springhill Rodeo Association is Founded
In 1979, a formal non-profit association was established to govern and grow the rodeo for future generations. The Est. 1979 marking on our logo honors this milestone. Full description coming.
1990s
PRCA Sanctioning & New Arena
The rodeo earned PRCA sanctioning and a new permanent arena was constructed at Caddo Parish Fairgrounds. Full history description coming soon.
History
Growth Into the Modern Era
Fireworks, live music, and expanded family programming were added through the 2000s, growing attendance past 3,000 per year. Full description coming.
2026
The 47th Annual — Looking Forward
This year we celebrate 73 years of the Springhill Rodeo. Three nights, the best riders in the region, fireworks, and the same community spirit that started it all back in 1953.
