SPRINGHILL RODEO ASSOCIATION, was started in 1953 by 10 families. They each put up $1,000.00 and built the arena that we still use today. It was patterned after an arena in Gladewater, Texas which has since been torn down. Our arena is in Springhill, Louisiana and is the most unique arena that most people have ever seen. No one comes and participates in Springhill and doesn’t remember our arena. It was designed in a hole with concrete bleachers and it remains that way to this day.

We are the longest, consecutive running rodeo in the state of Louisiana and the largest PRCA rodeo with 307 contestants in 2025. 2026 will be our 74th rodeo held in this wonderful arena. We bring a Professional Rodeo to our small town that will rival many larger cities. The Rodeo brings people from all over our area-Webster, Bossier and Caddo parishes, Arkansas, and Texas. Many people travel each year to see our Rodeo. Some come all 3 nights. We feel like this is the biggest event in Webster Parish.

We are an all-volunteer organization that works extremely hard to put on a professional show and make sure the fans have a great time. We are trying to make improvements every year and have tried to bring something different to our Rodeo every year. Our Jumbotron has added so much to our show, including instant replay of every ride and run and to help advertise our sponsors every chance we can. For 2026 we had a National Anthem contest to see who would perform each night. We used FB and asked interested singers to put a video on FB and then we let the fans vote. 3rd place will sing Thursday night and earn $100, 2nd place will sing Friday night and earn $200 and 1st place will sing Saturday night and earn $300 and will be nominated by our rodeo to compete for a chance to sing the National Anthem at the National Finals Rodeo.

We have around 4,000 fans come and celebrate with us the sport of Rodeo each year. We added online ticket sales 4 years ago and it has been utilized more each year. We want to make it easy for the fans to come and sit back and enjoy the show.

Sponsors are what make the difference for us to add new and innovative events at the Rodeo. This year we are having our 4th annual Brisket Cookoff the Saturday before the Rodeo. This is a fun and exciting event with a $1,000 1st prize winner!

We are trying to keep Rodeo in our town for our children and grandchildren. We want to always be proud of our history and our future.

A group of ranchers and community leaders organized the inaugural Springhill Rodeo on the fairgrounds south of town. About 200 people attended the first year.

Through the 1960s the rodeo grew from a one-night affair to a three-night event, adding the Rodeo Queen pageant and a parade through downtown Springhill. Full history description coming.

In 1979, a formal non-profit association was established to govern and grow the rodeo for future generations. The Est. 1979 marking on our logo honors this milestone. Full description coming.

The rodeo earned PRCA sanctioning and a new permanent arena was constructed at Caddo Parish Fairgrounds. Full history description coming soon.

Fireworks, live music, and expanded family programming were added through the 2000s, growing attendance past 3,000 per year. Full description coming.

This year we celebrate 73 years of the Springhill Rodeo. Three nights, the best riders in the region, fireworks, and the same community spirit that started it all back in 1953.
